How Wolves fans feel about Brendan Rodgers as former Celtic boss emerges as head coach candidate

Brendan Rodgers has emerged as an early candidate to replace Vitor Pereira at Wolves.

Vitor Pereira was sacked following defeat to Fulham, with Jeff Shi confirming the decision.

When it comes to replacements, Brendan Rodgers is a name that keeps springing up. The Northern Irishman is without a job after abruptly leaving Celtic at the end of October.

Molineux News has learnt how Brendan Rodgers feels about joining Wolves, and fans have been taking to social media to give their reaction to the potential hire.

Wolves fans react to potential Brendan Rodgers appointment

Brendan Rodgers is currently a free agent in the manager market, and that will be an appealing prospect for Fosun and Jeff Shi.

With Rodgers no longer at a club, Wolves will not have to pay a fee to secure his services.

The 52-year-old is a decorated coach, having won the FA Cup at Leicester and 11 major honours with Celtic.

His emergence as a candidate to replace Vitor Pereira has sparked conversation on social media, and here is what fans are saying.

One fan said, “He’d be the best appointment available but can’t see it happening myself.”

Another stated, “Can’t imagine anyone of that quality wanting to take the job, so if there’s a slight chance he’s interested, then snap his hand off.”

That sentiment was echoed by one supporter saying, “Best we could get, I think.”

However, not everyone is on board with the possibility.

This fan stated, “Don’t think he’s great at getting the most from a poor squad…”

And another simply said, “Please god no.”

While Rodgers would be an ambitious hire, it would be quite strange for him to take the job due to the similarities behind the reason he left Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers would be going from one bad boardroom to another

Brendan Rodgers left Celtic in dramatic fashion due to issues he had with the board, and he would likely have the same problems at Molineux.

The Wolves hierarchy are not popular with fans, and after Vitor Pereira was let go, fans requested that Jeff Shi be next.

There is no doubt that the former Leicester manager is a top-quality coach, but would hiring someone who would potentially clash with the people above him be smart?

Fosun and Jeff Shi have a major decision to make over who does take the job, and the new manager will need to fix three core issues at Wolves.

Let’s wait and see who is in the dugout for Chelsea on Saturday.
