Wolves fans slam ‘disrespectful’ Nelson Semedo as club refuse to do one thing in negotiations

Wolves are only days away from Nelson Semedo becoming a free agent, and yet, they’re refusing to do one thing that would accelerate the process.

With his contract expiring on June 30, Wolves shockingly offered Semedo a four-year contract at the end of May in a desperate plea to keep their captain.

Semedo wanted ‘time’ to decide his future, weighing up whether to earn generational wealth elsewhere or continue to build on his hero status at Molineux.

Molineux News understands that Semedo is more likely to make a move overseas than extend his stay in Wolverhampton, with the 31-year-old being drawn towards a return to Benfica.

Remarkably, Wolves still haven’t given up hope on the Portuguese right-back committing his future to the club, but the longer this saga rumbles on, the more frustrated supporters are getting.

Wolves fans slam Nelson Semedo as they refuse to withdraw the contract offer

Semedo recorded a goodbye video at the end of May in case he was going to leave Wolves, and as it stands, fans won’t want to watch it.

As reported by Nathan Judah on X, the Old Gold are refusing to withdraw their contract offer for the defender out of respect for him, even though he’s disrespecting the club by leaving them in the dark.

Although Wolves are already pursuing replacements for him, namely free agent Kyle Walker-Peters, supporters still aren’t happy that Semedo’s indecision is costing them invaluable time.

“Get rid. If he wanted to stay he would’ve already signed the deal. Clearly using it to get a better deal elsewhere,” one fan wrote.

“Love him but this is just ridiculous,” someone else commented while a third questioned: “Ridiculous not to withdraw offer, he leaves it last minute to sign and we’ve already then signed replacement – what happens then?”

“Unfortunately for me, he’s had enough time to commit his future. It’s time to withdraw the offer and move on,” another supporter agreed, and a sixth said: “As much as he’s a vital player for us if he doesn’t wanna be here just get rid.”

“I’d withdraw it he’s taken far too long to make up his mind – showing us absolutely no respect!” a seventh exclaimed.

Semedo is tarnishing his Wolves legacy

Semedo’s leadership skills have been highlighted as positive by almost everyone associated with the club, but in this current situation, he’s not painting himself in a good light.

The right-back has had over a month since the season finished to decide his next step, yet he’s still no closer to making a decision.

It’s become clear that the former Barcelona man is motivated by money when weighing up his next move, as Marseille rejected the chance to sign Semedo after he asked for an unrealistic salary.

As they’re competing in the Champions League next season, Semedo could have fulfilled one of his ambitions, but it appears he’s waiting for the right money to crop up.

That stance is understandable as the career of a footballer is short, though with just three days till his contract expires, he could end up exiting Wolves on a sour note.
